Macro lense

Hi
I Have just purchased a canon 100mm macro lense and I was wondering because there is no IS on this lense, at what speed do you need to set the shutter to stop camera shake ? is it as normal 1over the focal distance or is it different?

As a general rule yes - the faster the better. Aperture + shutter speed = exposure so if a specific aperture value is required and set and the shutter speed isn't up to what you need then try increasing the ISO value - better still, a tripod. This lens is excellent by the way but do ensure that you have the distance switch on the barrel of the lens set correctly or it will hunt trying to gain focus. I'm sure you'll be very pleased with the lens.
