1000d or 450d?

Hey everyone!

This is my first post here, sorry it happens to be a question!

Im looking at replacing my 300d now, my first dslr and its served its purpose well. Unfourtunatly its starting to develop shutter failure but Im not too upset as I feel im ready for something newer.

The predicument im in is this. I really want to stick with canon so I can carry on using my existing kit. I dont want to spend much more than 500 so I know im really only looking at the 1000d and 450d.

However after looking at the canon comparison site im struggling to see much difference between the two besides the larger number of pixels in the 450d. The 450d seems a little heavier which I think I like but isnt going to make a huge difference.

Anyone have experience of both?

thanks,
Darren

Hi Darren, welcome to the forums.

To be honest both are good cameras but, given that you're already an SLR user, I'd probably go for the 450 as it's more of an upgrade than the 1000.

To be honest though, I'd shell out an extra £20 and get the 500 body only from Wex (LINK)

Well, it's better than the 1000 or the 450. It's the upgrade to the 450 and the 1000 is effectively a stripped down 500.

Basically if you want to stay with Canon and you've got £500 that's the best you're going to get!

It seems I have overlooked the 500d!

Its worth putting the extra bit of money to then over the 450d?

Simply... yes.

The 500 is quite a large step forwards from the 450. Ignoring the higher resolution, it's got a higher ISO range, larger higher definition screen, HD video, adjustable noise reduction, a larger buffer and the newer Digic 4 processor.

I decided to buy a 500d

Was about to order now and realised that the 550d is soon to come out, im not interested in purchasing this but do you think once its release the 500d price will fall significantly?

Dazz a ..........it's a fact of life that prices often fall as the replacement and update cycle is quite rapid .

In the end though you could wait for ever .At some stage you have to bite the bullet and go for it.

Get a 500 and go out out and enjoy it .
