Also worth mentioning that, with the announcement of the TZ8 and TZ10 (to replace the TZ6 and TZ7), the TZ7 might well start dropping in price.

I'm not sure I completely agree. The S90 is, by all accounts, a very good camera but it doesn't come anywhere close to the TZ7 in terms of it's zoom. The S90 has a 28-105mm (equiv.) which is 3.75x while the TZ7 has a 25-300mm (12x).
This means that the Panasonic is not only
much longer but significantly wider (the horizontal angle of view for the S90 is 64.7 degrees while it's 73.6 degrees on the TZ7).
