Rattle inside a Sigma lens - is it normal?

Hi
I have just purchased a Sigma 18-250mm f3.5-6.3 DC OS HSM - Sony Fit, and it arrived today. When I first picked it up I noticed that there is a rattle in it, and when I extend the zoom there is a scrathy sound like metal on metal for the first quarter turn. Is this normal? Does anyone have the same lens? The lens appears to work perfectly well and Warehouse Express have agreed to inspect it and replace it if necessary, but I'm wondering whether anyone else has had the same problem.

Thanks for any help
Dave

Sounds dodgy.
For the money you paid for this lens I would get it replaced.. It may work OK now but I would bet it will fail just as it gets out of Guarantee !

Give Sigma a call on their contact number on the site, ask to speak to the service people and make sure the lens is to hand. You'll find them very helpfull and you'll be able to have some confidence in the answers they give you.

Ha!

I think it means... OS systems can be clunky but rattles are bad!
