BAN the rollover adds

The number of times this darn add has started as my mouse passed over it is driving me mad

Please do not implement rollover, if I want to read an add I 'll click it, if these stay on the site I wont

I changed my PR page access to forums threads because I got sick of never seeing picture of the day through the changing pics on that bit. never see any other adds thoughh- must be my Kaspersky ad blocker does the trick - though I still can not see any videos!

Same here and the feedback from the 'team' regarding this issue seems to have fallen by the wayside.

Hi Forseti,

I think we mentioned before that because the majority of users aren't experiencing any problems with the videos it's proving difficult to test all the various combinations of what could be going wrong for your specific machines, as we have yet to do a test where the videos have not been working.

We are also waiting for a new tech guy to start who can look at the specific problems you've been having, as it's not something any of us on editorial can really deal with.

I'm sorry you're still experiencing problems with the video, and there's not much I can really say other than it is being looked into, but it is taking some time because of the many different problems that it could be, the only thing you seem to have in common is Kapersky, again something fairly difficult for us to test as we don't have it on our machines.

I'll let you know any updates on this as soon as they become available.

As for the rollover ads, we will take on board your comments about them being annoying, but obviously the site is maintained by the adverts so we have to consider both sides of the argument.

Hope that helps,

Amy

Ok Amy, thanks for the update although, as I believe I mentioned some time earlier, I wouldn't place too much emphasis on Kaspersky as being at the root of the problem as the videos still don't run even with Kaspersky disabled. I believe this may be the case with jinky as well??

Hi Forseti,

That has indeed been noted, but it seems to be the only thing that links anybody that they have (or ever have) had Kapersky running.

Will keep you updated with anything as soon as I can.

Best wishes,

Amy

Thanks for your reply Amy, I'm glad your still listening in I just find the roll overs so annoying because its not as if once you have let it play, it dosent play again, every time the mouse hits it your screen is filled with an add you have already seen to many times already.
Please let the user decide when they want to run the add.

I usually have a number of tabs open which auto open upon running the browser. This is now the only site that I've come across that, due to the ads, it makes opening multi-windows a nightmare (and slows my quad-processed system to a crawl). And as the site doesn't have "recent threads", "threads since your last visit", etc I'm gonna go away and sulk (as you do when you don't get your own way! Pram time! )

I'm sorry but these roll over adds have done it for me, it makes my blood boil the way they just half fill the page, I'm out of here for a while at least, using the site is just hellish.
