Candid Portrait

Candid image of my grandson and his friends
Camera Canon 40D Lens EF 24-105 F4L Hand held focal length 28mm
Shot in Aperture priority with lighting from side window with built in flash as fill in light
AV F4 TV 1/60 ISO 400

Love the first shot with his colourful friends and all but the last shot are well exposed, the final shot with the shallow DOF is a little flat for me. A boost in curves would bring it to life though.

Fabulous expression on your grandsons face in all the shots. Great subject.

Not too sure if this a rhetorical question Ben, but I suppose in essence they are candid in as much they aren't posed. I would say they fall into the category of family snaps, and good ones at that.

I'd agree with that part, but agree with Ben that they aren't candid as the boy is aware of the camera and is responding to it.

First image is a keeper. Last image the color balance is a little off but easily fixed and could be the best of the bunch IMO.
