The challenge of getting slow motion time lapse onto a single image is not an easy one, so this weeks entry is highly experimental. A chat with the graphics design guru and both of us agreed that the only way to do it is using layers of varying opacity, although we did dissagree on the method, if I'd used her's then I'd have had two layers for each shot (multiply & overlay) and when we did try it, it didn't work!
I've sent her the image of the assembled tree so she can have a go & if it's any good I'll enter it for her.
I had hoped with this that there would be easily identifiable 'bands' as each layer of the tree is built up, the painting behind doesn't help, but the whole thing appears to have a gentle 'gradient' type fade rather than the steps I was hoping for. Given more time I could perhaps have reached that effect, it's an interesting excercise for product type photography when the internal structure needs to be shown, as the 'trunk' at the start is clearly visible.
ANyway for what it's worth it's probably going to be the only slow motion entry!
