Nikkor 18-300VR

Setting aside my search for a potential new camera for the moment, I've been curious about getting the NIKKOR 18-300mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR as a replacement for my 18-105VR and 70-300VR.

I know that zoom lenses are always a compromise, and ultra-zooms like the 18-300 more so, but I'm also conscious that the majority of my photography takes place using the one lens that is on the camera all the time (which is the 18-105). That's partly because I don't want to carry my camera bag everywhere I go, and partly because its rare that I get time to dip in to my bag and change lenses (due to an impatient wife.... ). A recent trip to Morocco was shot solely on the 18-105 as I could only take the one lens.

So I feel I'd gain flexibility with a single lens (and gain weight...) but what would I lose if I were to change my 2 lenses for the 18-300? Any opinions? Suggestions? Anyone done the same?
