i did use the trial first, and thought it was fine to be honest. i'd been messing around with editing using paint.net (a free program) and had some idea about layers and edits first. i know ps elements is a very layout and feel to other versions of elements, so that might be the source of some of the problems. i guess it's all a matter of opinion in the end
