I have both elements 9 and Lightroom. Also DPP . However I find Photoshops elements very versatile and easy to use. It also does 'non destructive' editing which would be the same as lightroom and DPP. For the non professional I find photoshop has more tools than I would ever need.
I downloaded a free copy of photoshop, CS2, from Adobe website. You may find that you can still do this.
