Chris, I think HDR can be as subtle or as OTT as you like, there is no exact science in this. I normally push the picture to the extreme but the subject has to reflect that. Sky's are always a biggie for me as I think HRD and moody skies do go hand in hand.

TBH I don't think still life works with this topic but that's my thoughts, I like buildings and sky's, landscapes, older internal rooms that sort of thing things that in normal pictures that are a hard finish.

Well that's my waffle on the topic anyway.
