it's not as bad as it sounds it's been that long now since i lost most of my hand i have adapted quite well i am still able to grip items so it is not all bad
although a camera is quite bulky portrait shots can be done in two ways either by using left hand over the lens and steadying the camera with right hand or using left hand around the lens and firing the trigger with right hand ( camera shutter button at bottom ) and for landscape shots i hold the camera steady with the lens and fire with right hand or if the battery grip is fitted i use that to hold the camera with my left hand while still using me right to fire the trigger
i bet this is hard to picture but in reality it's pretty straight forward iv'e had 30 years practice
