I have no problem with constructive criticism because we can learn from such. Having our work torn apart is another matter. Some forums provide a place for strong criticism and warn you that it can be merciless. But the other threads are for submitting photos just for viewing. If somebody wants to offer a kind word, that's fine, but the hard stuff must be kept for the critiquing forum only.

I once belonged to a forum that was little more than a cliquish mutual admiration club, where everyone made similar comments: "Great DOF!"... "Nicely done!"... "Awesome!" etc. That kind of thing is tiresome but I visited after a couple of years away from it, and the same people with the same remarks were still going.
