I'll keep going on this one because I now see it as a personal mission , I'm going to have to go back to the start because like a Muppet I didn't save it as a photoshop file and lost all the layer's information , I had two main layers one with the white grad on it and another with an image of clouds with a screen blend mode to give the mottled appearance .

I know why you're saying about edited phots not being 'real'. I feel the same, but I accept that photoshop is part of photography these days. I'd love to get it right in camera every time, but I'm not that good and a bit of simple processing can help my my photos in some cases. But I'm not very good with photoshop either, but I'm slowly learning.
