When posting links it's a good idea not to use sites which require a user to log on! I can't get ppast the log on page.
For a long time I've been posting that Manfrotto tripods are not the qulity & design they once were. Unfortunately some people still believe that the power of a brand name is more important than its capabilities and buy them regardless.
The Manfrotto 190 is a lightweight tripod and it's not the sturdiest one around so it might not be a fair comparison, even if it does cost twice as much. There are plenty of alternatives around in the tripod market, Giottos, Benbo Induro, and Calumets own brand, if you have money burning a hole in your pocket buy a Gitzo they actually come with all the parts Manfrotto charge you extra for and cost roughly the same when you've bought all the bits you need.
Until the market votes with it's pocket Manfrotto will continue to offer products which are not as good as their price suggests they are, trading on their brand name. Recent reviews in magazines are also comming to the same conclusion including one which placed the Giottos in first place ahead of the Manfrotto (wish I could remember the mag!)
