Yes, am using the 64 bit version. OldBoy, methinks you've nailed the problem. I was working on a folder with over 5000 pictures in it, and it suddenly came came up with a 'purge cache' response. I was under the (obviously misguided...) impression that this happened automatically. I managed to find the purge cache function under edit>purge. I went out of PS re-entered, then encountered the same message when attempting to open a folder with no more than 700 pics in it. As I was about to wonder why there was again an overflow, the message disappeared and the program performed flawlessly.

Now an interesting question: when I looked again at how to purge the cache, it only gave me the options of history, video, all. Why no cache? Is it not ppossible to purge cache automatically after exiting every session?

An interesting aside is that I am also running Elements 9, as the plug-in redynamix cannot handle 64bits. The problem with this is that I can only use it as a final edit, as I need to convert bit depth prior to opening in Elements.
