As you say you're an artist and very critical of yourself, you don't need to be told to use your eyes and learn to see what's in front of you.
To give a very specific answer to your very specific question my answer would be to learn the limitations of your camera (all camera have limitations) and once you are confident about what it can and can't do, work within those limits.
