Sadly, enough professional enterprises - graphics studios, print houses, gallery printers etc - will get the upgrade, whatever it costs (a tax deductible item). That will make Adobe feel smug because they've added the bare minimum, as usual, to a new version (though I'll admit that the fast graphic 'engine' sounds good). The enthusiast (pro or am) will have to catch up somehow because Adobe just won't give any support to older versions.

Not so much an alternative, but maybe something to consider as enhancements to older PS versions (and even PS Elements)....... I've recently been looking at OnOne Perfect Suite software - quite a bit cheaper and a superb looking set of plug-ins.
