You probably don't like the focus on the left because that's the side where there's detail in the foreground. If the window that you focussed on is that one in the middle of the frame, in the far distance, I think that the foreground is doing quite nicely.
Note to DCW admins (if they ever look): It's SO frustrating not being able to just drop an image into a post. I could show the OP what I'm seeing, but really don't want to post a picture in my DCW gallery or anywhere else to be able to link to it. The only place I want it is HERE!
Crop the Sigma picture to the same view as the Canon, and downsize the Canon to the same size as the cropped Sigma picture, then play spot the difference.
Your lens has been to Japan to have the 4th lens group adjusted. I think we can assume that it came back to you as good as Sigma can make one of those lenses. That leaves 2 options from what I said earlier, camera or user fault.
