Again, the big question is, "What do you want to do with them?"
I've had very acceptable results with the Epson V200, but it's slow and only does 4 slides at a time and I only wanted them for the web. If you're only doing a few dozen, it's not a drama - but if you're looking at 100's, well!
I had the big HP flatbed (can't remember the model) that did 36 slides in one pass, but HP could never get it to work properly and eventually gave up and refunded my money.
I remember when Gary was on his quest a lot of information was passed around then. See if you can dig up that thread.
