A different side to my work
Morning all
People and portraiture is not something I really do. I prefer to be capture rolling hills etc instead of getting up close to the inhabitants.
However, I was recently contacted by a gallery that I'm with here in Tours about the possibility that I'll be sent off to Morocco for two weeks to take some images for a proposed book for a publisher here in France.
The problem they had is that the lady proposing the book wanted some portrait style shots and I had none!
Cue 11 minites in a bakery. This is the raw set of what I took in those 11 minutes. I had to think fast and try and capture the spirit of the place. Camera was set, for a change, on aperture priority as I didn't have the time to be thinking about anything else. ISO was set to 400 for the first image but then quickly changed to 800. Aperture remained pretty much on f2.8. Lens was a 28-70 Canon L. No flash or tripod used. Post processing was kept to a minimum and that was just the AWB in the main. B&W was done but I chose the colour for here.
Earlier on, I'd asked in two other places but each declined. A shame really as I did enjoy the work and the people were great too. I went back in the afternoon and gave a disc of images plus some prints to the owner as a thank you.
Hope you all like this other side of my work. And keep your fingers crossed I'll be off to Morocco!

PS The bread from here is AMAZING!
