Pre AI (pre-1977) lenses don't fit many digital bodies, though they can be adapted. They do fit the D40, D40x, D60, D5000, D3000, D3100, D5100 though there's no metering, and Nikon themselves list them as incompatible. They're only listed as fitting the F3, F4 and F6 at Nikonians. The F5 body can be adapted to accept them.
