I'm not sure how the it stacks up against the new Canon 1Dx yet, but the D3s is currently the ISO king, so I should imagine you are happy with the D3s Barry lol (yes I am jealous much!). I would like to upgrade from my D90, to a D7000 or full frame, as I do find the ISO limiting on it, especially for low light/natural light portraiture. At about ISO800 the noise begins to creep in. Not so much a problem in the past as I've mainly done monochrome images and the noise adds an almost film grain quality to the image. Since I've been moving into colour a bit more lately, I'd love something like a D3s which would give me much more freedom to get that shutter speed up when needed, without losing IQ.

As for the D800, it sounds awesome and if the 36mp sensor is indeed correct, then it certainly will prove popular with landscape and studio photographers, especially if its around the £2000. Even the D3x (£5k+) is "only" 24MP. I certainly hope they have overhauled the video capabilities to rival, if not supercede the 5D MKII.

I won't hold my breath to it being announced until next year though. After Fukushima and the flooding in Thailand, which left the Nikon factory under 2m of water, I shouldn't imagine they will be in a position to start rolling them out until production capabilities are back to normal.
