I have a fantastic idea for an entry that's right (quite literally) up Jimmyosram's street (his neck of the woods in Northumberland in a village called Narrowgate). I have no car this weekend as hubby is replacing the brakes, so can't get up there, but its an 'olde' story I want to share.

There's a pub called "The Olde Cross" (bang on theme). It is famous for it's dirty bottles in the window. The dirty bottles have been there for two centuries, since the day the innkeeper died while placing them there. Superstition has it, that whoever tries to move these dirty bottles, will be cursed with bad luck and the widow of the poor man who put the bottles in the window claimed that whoever touched them would be sure to die soon after. For this reason the window has never been cleaned.

I would love to get up there, take some photos of the pub, the pub sign, the window with the dirty bottles (if you can see tham as the window hasn't been cleaned in 200 years!!). Gutted the car is off the road this weekend.Darn my little Audi TT and its dodgy brakes!
