You could make prints of the slides you are really keen on and then scan them as jpegs, but with the price that could come to, it may be well worth it to invest in the slide scanner as shown in the link above.

I had a similar dilemma: I had contact sheets made of all my slides (they were unmounted) and then printed off the ones I really liked. I haven't scanned the prints as I do not have the time to sit and manipulate each one. I had to be ruthless with my collection though, as it ran into the high hundreds (slide film spools, not slides).
