I cannot freeze the smoke as Dan has done due to this fact and i cannot use an ON camera flash as it just

I have tried lighting from all angles but obviously as i am not triggering an off camera flash the smoke will continue to move and i get a blur.

Any suggestions please.

Thanks

You'll probably need to switch to shutter priority or manual so you can control how long the shutter is open for. If you don't then it'll be trying to expose the image to make it bright, so will take a very long exposure - hence the blur. You could also up the ISO to increase the shutter speed.
