H 4 voc ..........the canon 18 to 200 is not bad .I do get some vignetting at the wide end with it opened up but it's by no means awful.
As you say the ability to go out and use the one lens is good .Better that than miss something through changing lenses.
I have been more than happy with it and was happy to leave it on all day during a recent trip to London.
I have other lenses and yes they are sharper but only if you are being ultra critical.I have happily printed to A4 with good results.
I have been shooting digital a year it's only recently I have felt the need to get more lenses .A tele zoom and ultrawide.
Unless you are ultra critical you will be fine with a superzoom.
