Is your monitor calibrated if it isn't that could be part of the problem as the colours may look fine on your display but not print, also I tend to find prints will seem darker anyway as the monitor is backlit and the paper is not, also different types of paper will produce slightly different results.
The other consideration is that some printing services apply automatic "Enhancements" to your images which can undo any changes you have made so you may want to check this with them or use a different printing service.
I tend to do prints myself as and when I need them but have in the past had batches of photos produced for xmas cards etc at which time I used Tesco and to be honest had no complaints for the images I used.
I know this issue has caused some debate here in the past and hopefully others who have used third party printing services can offer some advice also.
With regards to the fuji frontier profile I don't really see that you should need to apply this to your editing software as the colour data from the image should be correctly interpretted.
