Pretty much what I said a couple of weeks ago. I still think there's room for improvement in technique both in use of the lens and postprocessing of shots.
Lose the UV filter. There's a possibility that it's not adversely affecting the lens' performace very much, but it's a certainty that it's not improving it at all.
