Many moons ago, my 'o' level physics taught me the basics of simple lens work (relating length strength to magnification etc).

And anyone recommend a good book or better still, a free website detailing the science behind our equipment such as calculating macro ratios, diffraction effects etc. No real reason for it, just a desire to understand more about what goes on.
