General rule of thumb is if your want to do landscapes and portraits then the 5D otherwise if you want to do Sports, wildlife etc then the 7D due to the faster burst and 1.6x crop factor.

Other considerations are that for the 5D being a full frame camera the choice of lenses is reduced and they will be more expensive, having said that I am looking to go L glass lens all the way for my 7D at some point anyway.

Greenwing is right though it is worth searching through past posts as it is a common delema and one I was in myself.
