I've had a brief look at your gallery. Macro seems to be your thing, which is an area full of possibilities. The main difficulty is the depth of field (the plane of acceptable focus) is very shallow when you get close up. There are two ways to deal with this; First stop down as much as you can (use a large f Number), this increases the depth of that sharp plane. When you do that you want to focus about 1/3rd of the way into the zone you want to be sharp. The second method is a lot more fiddly and involves taking a number of pictures, each with a slightly different point of focus, then combining all the images in Photoshop to give one picture which is sharp from front to back.
The second method is favoured by the experts, but demands a lot more effort. You absolutely must use a sturdy tripod and you must make sure your subject doesn't move during the shoot. This often means picking the flower and taking it into a studio where you have more environmental control.
So much for the technical stuff. Your ideas are sound and the compositions are quite good. Try to work of the techniques then expand your horizons.
