I am unsure whether to use a wide-angle lens because of possible distortions at the edges of the frame of the shot, having only used it for landscapes up until now. I was unsure about the aperture because I want a fast enough shutter speed so I won't get any camera shake, but also to ensure everyone in the group is sharply in focus - f8? f16? Which would be better, or is there a better option?
You also need to watch your tone - the last line in your answer I find incredibly insulting and offensive, as is also the weak crack about using my equipment for a door-stop.
It you find my comments offensive you want to have a hard look at yourself Tom and how you present yourself to a forum (and possibly grow up a little). Troll's are never welcome.

Perhaps someone else on here may feel the need to help you after this interaction, I don't.
