There's a
local photographer here (in Canada) who does a lot of travel shots and is regularly published - he's very good. He uses a tripod for landscapes etc - but takes most of his 'street' shots hand-held, with a
deliberately slow shutter speed. His pictures have a dreamy glow about them..... any subject movement shows as a blur of action, reflecting the hustle-bustle of city life, while any camera shake gives everything a soft feel.
Yes, I know it's not quite 'on-topic', but it's worth noting that we can sometimes wander away from the technical 'rules', like always using our fastest shutter speed.
