Hi Chris,

I think you would be best posing this question directly to someone like Abers, who works predominantly in black and white. Saying that, you know yourself from converting colour images to black and white what should work and what won't. The general rule is to make sure your image has a wide tonal range as this will add to the drama within it. Look for textures and patterns as these always work well in black and white. For further inspiration, why not have a look through the galleries on this site as there have been some very atmospheric black and white shots on here.
