If I were you I'd get it repaired.
I recently had the misfortune of getting fruit juice into the main dial of my 500d, I took it into the Canon repair centre in Elstree (near Watford). I suspect that Canon will offer you a fixed price repair, give them a call on
0844 369 0100 to see how much they will charge. Other repair centres are listed here
