Portrait-wise, you could do worse than the standard 50mm f/1.8 - personally, I use my Sigma 105mm but that's as I like to stand back from my subject (and for my very rare studio stuff, my 15-85mm IS)
thanks you I suppose the one thing I never gave a thought to was shutter speed.So are you saying that the IS/OS are only really needed for slower shutter speeds.
