@ Colin - I have to disagree. I'm not Pro, don't have a Pro level camera (Nikon D200) from the UK and I've placed twice in the last 2 years... I think it's better just to concentrate on making/taking shots with passion, than to passionately worry about anything else.
If you win, you win, lose and you lose, far more important things happen and happening in the world, Japan's a sobering reminder of that. If folks have a problem with the POTY the answers really simple, just don't enter
Photography for me is not looking, it's feeling.
If you can't feel what you're looking at, then you're never going to get others to feel anything when they look at your pictures.
