Just a couple of other points to chuck in, if it has 4GB of RAM or more make sure it is bundled with a minimum of Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit so it can use all that RAM, avoid any laptop that comes with Windows 7 Starter addition as that is way to restrictive.
Are you planning on using it on battery, if so battery life can be an issue with I3/I5/I7 CPU's especially with the cheaper laptops, some of them only last about 45 mins playing video.
If you are doing photo editting then laptop screens can be a bit iffy.
