What compact should I get?

I need a bit of help please! I am looking to get a compact to take on holidays and travel. I currently use a Nikon DX2s which is too large to take on holidays. I am prepared to spend in the £400 to £500 region. I would use the camera for a wide range of photography styles which would include portraits of family and friends, landscapes, travel shots and possibly some low-light. I would like to have a bit of control over settings when required and would like a reasonable built-in flash. Is this asking too much...?
