There's no doubt about what this is supposed to represent. Incredibly grainy for a 100 ISO image. The lens was a f1.8. There also appears to be some red eye. So I'm a bit confused. I wonder if better results all around could have been achieved with a rather higher ISO setting or a weapons grade flashgun? The white balance seems out a little too.
Below: Reinardina – The Sound of Silence (could have been the title for Mark's silent scream).
No technical crit as I don't have a larger image to view. The composition and subject don't really work for me. The overall very warm tone (auto WB under tungsten light perhaps?) makes it look a bit gloomy to me.
My effort was poor. Lack of inspiration, excited about finding my Wah-Wah pedal and it still working, disappointment at discovering that my new K5 was one the ones affected by Sony's lack of quality control, and having the house invaded by my father-in-law all played their parts.
I'm not sure if I'll manage an entry next week, unless Ogga comes up with 'Torn Wrapping Paper” or “Christmas Leftovers” as a theme
Ogga got my vote this week. Photography is about capturing a moment, and this is a lovely example of that principle at work. Technical perfection is something we all strive for, but it really is secondary to the image. Its omission is only a problem if it is so intrusive that it seriously distracts from the content.
