Then I had a nightmare paying the guy as he didn't take paypal (didn't spot it at the time), so had to do an IBAN transfer lol. Got there in the end though and computer is running much quicker and smoother since.

You must be running a 64bit system, because with a 32bit system the maximum RAM the processor can manage is 4GB. So check your pcs specs carefully to see what the maximum amount of RAM it can take.
