I find L/room gives me most of what I want. Converting from colour to B+W is simple and from there on in it's relatively easy.

However I think you need a solid grounding in darkroom techniques, knowing what's needed and where and how to achieve it. The other plus is that digital B+W imaging saves all those basketfulls of waste photographic paper that used to be the norm in the old days.

I particularly like the printing facility that L/room has, once you have the image the way you want it and your printer correctly set up with the correct ICC profile for the paper you are using, the print 99% matches the screen image.
