hi there, i read your question in photoplus and hope the following helps. i originally had a 400d and after 2 years of exellent service decided to upgrade. I could not afford the 5Dmk11 at the time so after trying one out i bought a 50D. this has proved to be an exellent camera, and despite some people complaining of noise, i just dont see it. i mostly have a sigma 150-500mm F5.6-6.3 telephoto lens attached, and regularly shoot at 400 and 800 iso with no problems with noise at all. i have taken some stunning pictures of the squirrels and woodpeckers that visit our garden and have printed up to A2 and still had superb results. some shots at iso 1600 did start to show some noise, but this was minor and easily controlled with adobe ACR. note also that I now have a 5Dmk11 with a canon 24-105L lens which is amazing, but to be honest, i use the 50d far more often. if movie making is of interest to you then go for the 7D, but if its just super pictures that you want, buy the 50D and use the change to get an L series lens. (Quality is all in the glass) good luck, Roger
