It would be helpful if you posted an image to illustrate your point. What some people consider excessively noisy may be fine to another person as it is a bit subjective.
I had an E-510 and I never thought that the noise was a problem until I got above ISO 400.
It would also help if you said what sort of noise. Is it chroma or luminance?
The 4/3 system (especially the earlier models) were sometimes criticised for generated more noise than their direct competitors. It's hard to say for definate though without some examples. If you've got anything shot at ISO100 or ISO200 (certainly no higher) that you think is excessively noisy then stick it in the thread (have a look
