Filter for Sigma 10-20

Can anyone recommend a filter mainly to protect to lens. There are so many for sale its confusing and the price goes from £5-80. Any ideas please

Sigma 10-20 which one?

Was looking at the Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6 EX DC HSM or the Sigma 10-20mm f/3.5 EX DC HSM
There is a £100 difference between the two, as an amateur will it be in my interest to go for the cheaper...
