I do almost all my editing in LR4 now....

I do almost all my editing in LR4 now. Occasionally I'll export to PSE10 to clone, carry out Levels adjustments or do some dodging and burning.

I think Mark has got it all spot on. 1 & 4 are the best shots and can be easily fixed by adjusting the levels in Photoshop (other photo editing software packages are available :) )

I have the same set up and am well chuffed with it. There is a little chromatic aberration and some distortion at the short end but that's easily sorted in Lightroom.

A horizon in the centre of the frame can work sometimes, especially if there is a strong reflection in the water. Despite names like 'Rule of Thirds' there aren't any rules, only guidelines.

Some cameras (I don't know about Canon but certainly with the D7000 Nikon)have a Mirror Up setting on the command dial or around it. As CR3 says Live View really does drain the battery quite quickly...
