I understood that the SD card CLASS system was an industry standard for minimum read / write speed, so I don't understand how a class 6 is faster than a class 10!

Look for a 'CLASS 10' card and you won't go wrong.The capacity depends on howmany photos you take and which size you set in camera. But what ever you choose it will never be enough!

You don't say which camera, but have you tried the camera's own editng programme? If you have a Canon, try the DPP software.

If you take your pictures in both Raw & JPEG, then when you download both types will be saved to your files.
