I would save up abit more and get the tamron 17-50 f2.8, i upgrade my kit lens to that and its a huge difference.

Thats defo not an upgrade. When i got my d5000 it came with that tamron lens i have now sold it and got the nikon 55-200 vr and i could not be happier. The tamron 70-300 was so bad i wouldn`t use it...

I got a free tamron 70-300 the cheap one and hated it, but i love my tamron 17-50 2.8.
Its not tamron that suck just cheap glass does.

I just wanted to share some beyond 1:1 shots i have taken.
The 1st is a peppercorn, 2nd is sugar grains on coffee.
I used kenko tubes all3, tamron 90mm and sb600.
