Help! Canon 500mm Lens and compatibility with Kenya Airways (UK) 20cm bag restriction

Kenya Airways has a 20cm max depth limitation on hand luggage and this slightly worries me, so Im looking for a bag / rucksack which is most compatible with this and compatible with a Canon 500mm...

I agree the lag can be important for high speed shots and electronic triggering and I am actually experimenting with high speed photography and I have also taken some measurements...
